YL Carpentry & Custom Designs is a veteran-owned carpentry and remodeling shop working out of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Andrew Young and Daniel Lake run every job themselves – the same two people from the first walkthrough to the final punch list.
That is the whole idea. No sales rep who hands you off, no rotating crew of subcontractors, no phone number that stops being answered once the deposit clears.
Andrew young – owner
Andrew served twenty-one years in uniform — four in the U.S. Navy and seventeen in the U.S. Army. He brings the habits that came with it to every project: leadership, discipline, accountability, and a genuine intolerance for sloppy detail.
His background covers construction, heavy equipment operations and maintenance, team leadership and business management, and he is continuing his education in business management alongside running the company. He cares about building more than structures. Developing people, building a business worth keeping, and holding onto customers long after the job is finished all matter as much to him as the work itself.

Daniel Lake — Owner
Daniel works directly with homeowners – understanding what they actually want, giving them a straightforward estimate, and delivering work they can be proud of. From small repairs through to complete custom builds. He takes the view that a contractor’s reputation is built one job at a time, and he is unromantic about what that requires.

How we work
Written, itemized estimates. A real price broken into real line items, not a ballpark figure that grows once the work starts.
Permits pulled, properly. Decks, structural changes and new openings all get permitted and inspected. It is included in the quote, and it is not optional.
Licensed electrical contractor, and fully insured. We hold a Georgia Class I electrical license, which means the wiring on your job is done by us and not by a subcontractor we are waiting on. Certificates available on request, before you commit to anything.
We clean up daily. You still live there. The site gets swept at the end of every day.
Progress photos as we go, sent straight to your phone, so you can see what is happening while you are at work.

Decks and covered porches. Custom carpentry — stairs, railings, trim and structural work cut and fitted on site. Kitchen and bath remodels, from cabinet refinishing to a full rebuild. Exterior repairs, siding and fascia. Flooring. Sheds. Interior and exterior painting and deck staining. Built-ins, shelving, closets and mantels made to your space. From a small repair to a complete custom build, at a fair and competitive price.
Where we work
Based in Lawrenceville and working across the north and east metro — Suwanee, Duluth, Snellville, Grayson, Lilburn, Buford, Dacula, Loganville, Sugar Hill, Norcross, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Decatur, Marietta and Stone Mountain. If your town is not on that list, call anyway. We travel for the right job.
